William's Star Trek Shock

Star Trek SmallWilliam Shatner’s been talking about being snubbed by the people behind the new Star Trek movie.

However, the 76-year-old Canadian actor – who played Captain James T Kirk in the original 1960s TV show the movie is inspired by and in the seven of the films that followed – hopes it will be a hit.

He’s told US TV show Extra:  "How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected?"

"That doesn't make good business sense to me!"

Although William won’t appear in the new film, his co-star in the TV show Leonard Nimoy - aka Mr Spock – and several other past cast members are reported to have been offered roles in the movie.

The 26-year-old added: "I've become even more popular than I was playing Captain Kirk."

"I'm good box office and I get publicity. But, they are going in a different direction and it'll be a wonderful film."
