WashSpring Skin Care and Beauty

While you are spring cleaning your wardrobe, why not review your skin care and beauty routine too? It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and wear the same make up every day without thinking about it. Beauty and skin care is constantly changing and it’s a good idea to keep up to date and make sure you are looking after your skin in the best way you can.

Read our top tips for skin care and our beauty advice for 2008.

Skin care

Make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. It sounds like a chore but it’s just the best way to make sure that your skin is clean and looked after. Using soap to wash your face with can dry your skin out and strip it of its essential oils.

If you are not sure about what products are right for you, it is worth going to the different make up and skincare counters in your nearest department store, and asking them for advice. Many brands give away sample sizes of their products for free, so you can try things out without committing buy, and find out what products are right for you.

skincare Moisturise your skin every day. The skin on your face is constantly exposed to the environment you are in and can become dry and stressed if it doesn’t get the moisture it needs. Drinking plenty of water can help this too.

Wear sun block. It might not look very sunny outside at the moment, but the sun’s rays can still cause you damage. Many moisturisers and foundations contain sunscreen so check the label to see if yours does.

Exfoliate your skin every few days but at least once a week. This will remove dead skin and old makeup and leave you skin soft and smooth. For a cheap alternative to cosmetic scrubs, you can use some natural porridge oats mixed with a little water to gently rub over your face.

Makeup bagBeauty

Give your make up bag a good clearout and get rid of make up that is old, crumbling or generally a bit yuk!

Mascaras should be changed every three months at least and if they start to smell, throw them away immediately.

Wash all your make up sponges and brushes in some soapy water and make sure they are thoroughly rinsed and dried to get rid of old make up.

Makeup If your make up bag is a little worse for wear, give it a good wash or treat yourself to a new one. Dirty make up bags can hide lots of germs in them and it’s a good idea to keep them fresh and clean.

Invest in some good make up brushes. A good brush can make all the difference when applying make up and it can give you much more control.
