Week 13
Check out what how your baby is developing this week: -
- Down in foetusland, reflexes for sucking, swallowing and breathing have begun. The amniotic sac surrounding the foetus contains 100 millilitres of amniotic fluid, a fully appointed unit still with lots of room to bob around in.
- The ears are finished but can't hear yet.
- The lungs, liver, kidneys and digestive bits are still maturing.
- The head has been growing more slowly than the body since week 11.
- By the end of this week almost everything should be formed and ready to grow. But the foetus almost certainly wouldn't survive on its own because the organs wouldn't function well enough.
