Is it any good? It’s hard for a film like this not to come off as too sweet, but this grown up comedy manages is making it a real gem. Steve Carell is superb and his character is irresistible. You can’t help but like him even though he’s a walking disaster. The teenage supporting cast walk the risky line that most child actors stumble over and manage not to be annoying, and before you ask, yes that is Frasier’s dad playing Steve’s father.
The ending is a real jaw dropper – I won’t spoil it for you but you will be talking about for ages.
