What is a podcast?
A podcast allows you to receive the latest episode of a programme automatically, as soon as it's available. All you have to do is 'subscribe' to the specific podcast and the latest episode will be downloaded into your podcast software (such as iTunes). Every time your computer is connected to the internet, your podcast software will search for the latest episode of your chosen podcast and download it automatically, so you don't have to search for it yourself every time.

1. To start you will need some podcasting software*, such as iTunes. You can download iTunes here for free.

2. If you are using iTunes, you can subscribe to a podcast by finding our 'subscribe using iTunes' link. Click the link, and this should subscribe you to the podcast. If you are using different software, you might need to right-click and copy our RSS feed link, and then paste it into your new software.

3. Your software will automatically download new episodes of your chosen shows. You can then listen to it on your computer, or copy it onto your portable media player so you can listen anytime anywhere!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an iPod?
You don't have to have a portable MP3 player or an iPod to be able to listen to podcasts, you can listen through your computer. Your computer will need an internet connection and sound card. If you want to hear podcasts on the move, you will need a portable media player.

You will need a media player on your computer (many PCs come with Windows Media Player), and you'll also need speakers or headphones. If you transfer them to a portable media player, you can listen to them wherever you are, whenever you want.

Why isn’t there any music?
Unfortunately we can’t include full music tracks in our podcasts due to copyright reasons.

Why doesn’t it sound exactly like the show?
To make the show easy to download, we have to edit certain parts of it. We take out things that won’t be relevant at a later date such as travel information and adverts, so the podcast will sound slightly different from the original.
