A dad of 2 had to have more than 40 stitches after being attacked with a knife in Loughborough Town Centre.

25 year old Jason from Loughborough was walking along Park Road towards Skelthorpe on Friday night when he saw a couple having an argument. He became involved in a discussion with the man who pulled out a knife. Jason was then attacked and as a result suffered severe cuts to his head.

The attacker is described as white, aged between 16 and 19 and about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He has short blond hair, a very skinny face which was clean shaven. He was wearing a white, or grey hooded top, with dark socks worn over his trousers and trainers.

The woman he was with is described as white, aged between 15 and 18 and 5 feet 10 inches tall. She has a blond ponytail, with light blue jeans and a light top. She wore a lot of jewellery on her left hand.

Leicestershire Police say this was an isolated incident and violent crime in Loughborough is very low. There have been 11 incidents since the beginning of April compared to 10 during the same period last year.

However, Jason told HEART he's not surprised he was attacked in Loughborough, adding "you see it [knife crime] everywhere, you just don't think it will happen to you. I'm now concerned about my 2 young daughters, it makes you a lot more wary of everything."

If you have any information, contact Leicestershire Police on 0116 222 2222 or Crimestoppers which is anonymous on 0800 555 111.
