Larger measures and bigger glasses are putting drinkers at risk or accidental drink-driving and alcohol-related disease, a new report warns.
Consumer group Which? carried out the study and found that smaller wine glasses are disappearing from pubs. Which? found that they're increasingly phasing out 125ml glasses which used to be standard, and replacing them with 175ml or 250ml glasses. 250ml is just over half a pint.
The glasses contain an average of 3.5 units of alcohol - enough to put drinkers almost twice over the drink-drive limit after just one glass.
Nick Tegerdine from the Alcohol Problems Advisory Service in Nottingham told HEART, "The problems arise from people drinking more than they think they are...and it can lead to accidents, unwanted sexual-encounters, risk-taking behaviour and ending the night in a way you wouldn't want to".
So to help you keep count of how much you're drinking we asked Nick, 'What is a unit?' Click below to hear his answer...
