Theatre Royal Nottingham and The Royal Company present Robin of Sherwood by Michael Morpurgo adapted for the stage and directed by David Longford designed by Lindsey Bradford music composed and performed by OPUS “Welcome to Sherwood Forest. We have been expecting you for some time” Living amongst the ancient woodland of Sherwood Forest, young Robin Hood has to quickly deal with the pain and injustice served by the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham. Accompanied by Friar Tuck, Little John, Marion and others, Robin becomes the warrior leader of the Outcasts, determined to bring good King Richard back to the English throne and to triumph over the evil Sheriff.

Nottingham Lace and Fashion, 1880-1914 - 02:00PM 23/07/2008

While the 1880s was a boom time for the Nottingham lace industry, 1890s fashions demanded heavier laces. Local Leavers lace manufacturers faced increasing competition from the Swiss and German embroidering machines. Keeper of Costume and Textiles, Jeremy Farrell looks at how they rose to the challenge.

Rangoli Installation by Chila Burman & Ranbir Kaur - 09:00AM 23/07/2008

NAE welcomes you to our new home, as two British South Asian artists, Ranbir Kaur and Chila Burman will be creating a number of ’floor’ installations loosely themed around the ’welcoming’ message of the Indian art for Rangoli. Kaur’s works created by bare fingers using natural materials, whilst Burman’s will be more contemporary using unusual materials such as ice cream cones and glitter! Come in and experience the art of Rangoli.
