Stepping Out! - 11:00AM 06/07/2008

Every generation has an association with dance, from Ballroom to Jive, Big Band to Salsa. The streets of Leicester will ring to the sound of foot stomping, toe tapping and hip shaking. Dance is more popular than ever and this is reflected in the number and diversity of dance clubs and groups of all styles that regularly meet in Leicester’s ballroom’s, clubs and community centres. Stepping out! is a chance for everyone to dress up and get together in a celebration of dance.


Derby Arts Festival Centenary Thanksgiving Service - 06:00PM 06/07/2008

This Sunday Evensong is a thanksgiving service for the 100 years of the Derby Arts Festival. Much of the music used for the service has been composed by adjudicators of the Derby Arts Festival over the years. The readings will be spoken by winners if the 2008 Arts Festival.

12pm till late Day Pass - £15 Individual Concert sessions £10 Concessions £10 - £7.50 All-events weekend ticket £20 Youth Big Bands from throughout the UK will take part in the first ever Hot House Youth Big Band Festival. Hosted by the award winning EMYJO (East Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra), workshops and concerts will see Burton Youth Jazz Orchestra, Young Essex Jazz and Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra working with special guests Alan Barnes and Alex Wilson.

During a colourful career that has covered over three decades and seen album sales of over 70 million albums Duran Duran are now embarking on their ‘Red Carpet Massacre World Tour’. Their music is continually pushing creative boundaries and this tour is a collection of super catchy tunes. The original members Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor and John Taylor have written and recorded the new tracks with producers such as Timberland and Nate ‘Danja’ Hills and to show case their new album they will be calling in at Trent FM Arena Nottingham on Sunday 6th July 2008. Price: £40 - £45 (plus booking fee) Maximum 8 tickets per household


Picnic in the Park - 10:00AM 06/07/2008

Bring along a blanket and a picnic and spend a relaxing family day in the park. Make seaside windmills in the Science Centre, have your face painted (£1 charge), or try out some circus skills. (In the case of bad weather, some activities will take place in The Old School Hall.

Test your art-making skills during this week-long exhibition and related events. A rich assortment of painting, drawing and textile works from Nottingham City Museums’ collection act as a starting point from your creativity. Add to the display and think about the different methods used by artists across the centuries to express their ideas. Workshops: 28 June, 5 July (daytime) 1 and 2 July (6pm-8pm) Activities include WOW! at the Castle, art sessions from children with Rosey Hayward and Sian Watson. For adults: drawing from life and painting the landscape with Mik Godley and a textile day with Laura McCafferty; plus an informal Knitting Cafe for knitters of all ages and experience with Becky Bowley.
