See How They Run - 07:30PM 05/07/2008
location - The Little Theatre, Leicester
Written during World War 2, first produced in 1945 in the midst of a blitz, this hilariously madcap farce, set in the vicarage of Merton-cum-Middlewick, played a major part in the War Effort by lightening some of the darkest days for those still living and working in the capital.
The plot, but let’s not take that at all seriously, concerns a vicar, his ex-actress wife, her actor friend, the local (teetotal) spinster, a droll maid, a bishop, several men of the cloth and someone with a German accent. What happens needs to be seen to be believed – or laughed at!

Hucknall - Tribute to Bobby - 08:00PM 07/07/2008
location - De Montfort Hall, Leicester
For the very first time Mick Hucknall is stepping out from Simply Red, and has announced a new European Summer tour to support his eagerly anticipated debut solo studio LP Tribute To Bobby, released May 19th.
The Bobby in question is the enormously influential African- American singer Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, sometimes referred to as the ‘Lion of the Blues’. Tribute to Bobby is a twelve track master class in soul, blues and R&B and a tribute to one of Hucknall’s most important inspirations and musical idols. Along with such artists as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Junior Parker, Bland developed a sound that mixed gospel with blues and R&B. He sang classics such as big-band blues number Farther Up The Road (US R&B top 10 hit in 1957) and perfected his craft in the 1960s with a series of releases including Cry Cry Cry and I Pity The Fool. Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland perhaps achieved his greatest recognition much later in his career; in 1992 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1997 he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
On the album Tribute to Bobby Hucknall’s compelling vocals emphasise the sentiment of each of the songs, whilst masterfully adopting them and making them entirely his own

The Truth about Mars at Rutland & Derby Arms - 07:30PM 15/07/2008
location - Rutland & Derby Arms, Leicester
Websites, the blogsphere, controversial books and the tabloid media love Mars.
They tell of the Face on Mars, Cydonia, anomalistic rock formations, spacecraft conspiracies and a coverup to hide 'the truth' about Mars.
With half a dozen spacecraft on or around Mars, data is streaming back at an unprecedented rate, adding new layers of detail to our understanding of the Red Planet.
Doug Ellison takes you on a tour of the more popular conspiracies and fringe theories, and presents the raw data that tells us the 'Truth about Mars'.
Doug Ellison is a Multimedia Producer.
He started a forum to share and compare techniques and ideas of rover image processing which turned into Unmannedspaceflight.com. He has given many lectures to schools, local astronomy societies, and the British Astronomical Association about the rovers and other Mars missions, and he produces Rover Audio Updates with Jim Bell for The Planetary Society.
