Welcome to the world of Doctor Dolittle!! Brought to magical life by this country’s brightest musical entertainer, the legendary Tommy Steele stars alongside a huge company of singers, dancers, and puppeteers in this hit musical. Immortalised in the hugely popular film, Doctor Dolittle is a world-renowned veterinarian who speaks a wide array of animal languages. He sets off from his home in Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, England, in search of the Great Pink Sea Snail. Along the way, he and his friends meet such exotic creatures as the Pushme-Pullyu and the Giant Moon Moth. The Oscar Award-winning score includes the hits "If I Could Talk To The Animals.”, “I’ve Never Seen Anything Like It” and “My Friend The Doctor”. The Big Session Festival - 12:00AM 14/06/2008

Following the amazing sold out successes in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and being presented with the Greener Festival Award 2007, The Big Session Festival returns to De Montfort Hall & Gardens in 2008 to host the fourth festival. This year's festival will take place from Friday 13 - Sunday 15 June and is set to be a complete sell out with the full line-up confirmed including headliners; Steve Earle, Bellowhead and the Oysterband performing a rare Ceilidh set with popular caller Gordon Potts.

Almost a year to the day since the first Evolution gig, the project continues to gather great reviews and support from music lovers. With the gigs featuring a mix of bands, solo artistes and musical styles, there is something for everyone at this all ages gig. Featuring The Beau Peepshow on 24 May, with the remaining line up still to be announced.

Arnold Carnival 2008 - 10:00AM 14/06/2008

Big stage entertainment from local and professional entertainers over the weekend. Saturday evening has a 70s feel with Soul Express, Abba-Dabba-Doo and original members of The Real Thing, whilst on Sunday evening, we come more up to date with Retroglide, Take on That and The Bogus Brothers. Usual favourites also include Fun dog show, Battle of Britain Dakota Memorial Flypast, childrens fun fair, craft marquee, charity stalls and street entertainers. The Gedling Play Forum will also be providing activities for children of all ages. Bring a picnic, relax and be entertained.

Nordic Stralight Treck - 05:00PM 14/06/2008

This is a special project with a long term aim of providing a self-help / drop in centre for all those who have been bereaved by suicide, particularly young adults. A building has been earmarked for this centre to become available around 2010. We are raising funds for furnishings and running the centre. This event’s route follows the route of the big track. £10 to register and walkers may obtain sponsorship from family and friends

Come along for a free day of family fun hosted by MARS in the Community and Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire Help create a willow sculpture, watch a pole lathe demonstration, take part in an exciting treasure hunt, see rescue dogs in action and much more … You will also be able to find out about the Prior's close regeneration project, which is being funded by Mars in the Community with the support of Groundwork.
