Leicester Riverside Festival 2008 - 12:00AM 08/06/2008

Leicester’s Riverside Festival is a great way to discover the city’s waterways with lots to do both on and off the river. With something for all the family, you can take tea on the river; take part in some amazing workshops or relax and enjoy live performances on stage and shows in the arena area on the park. With street arts, traditional craft demonstrations, world food, real ale, art & crafts workshops and much much more it promises to be another great weekend.


Grimethorpe Colliery Band - 03:00PM 08/06/2008

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band are the current National Brass Band Champions of Great Britain, a title they have held for the past two years, and are also the current English National Champions, a title they won at the first attempt. The Band will represent England at the 2008 European Brass Band Championships, which will be held in Stavanger Norway. The band are probably the most famous brass band in the world since appearing in the British movie Brassed Off, a world wide success which has seen the band tour Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Norway, France, Holland and Sweden and the United States of America plus other northern European Countries. They have been awarded a gold disc for the soundtrack Brassed Off in Great Britain and Australia and are the only brass band to get to number one in the Classic FM Charts.
