Chasing Pavements (Part 10!)

Aargh owww ooh…….aaarghh!

Strange thing walking down stairs when you’ve just run a half-marathon. And it’s always the DAY AFTER the day after which seems to hurt the most.

I know from some texts coming into the show this morning that quite a few people who were doing their brilliant bit for Sport Relief on Sunday were feeling the same thing. And let me just add my congrats to you if you slipped on your trainers at the weekend to do your bit. Especially if you find the idea of exercise totally alien. It’s a major achievement. And a brilliant cause, too. Well done!

So I’ve now completed my final 'race' in the build-up to the Marathon. I took part in the Fleet Half Marathon on Sunday and got round in a smidge over 2 hours. Had a bit of time to kill before the start of the race so I got reading the little brochure they sent me with all my entry details. That’s when I clapped eyes on this little gem... Under no circumstances was I permitted to take a wheel-barrow on the run with me. Say what???!! A wheel-barrow?! Like I was planning to do some gardening along the way! Quality.

Back in the gym today to get my legs bashed back into shape and then that’s almost it for the training this year. Almost. There is still the small matter of two 20 mile-plus runs to squeeze in before I get to wind down to the big day. Mmmmm, 20 miles. You can say it quickly, you can pretend that it’s nothing much, really. Or you can just go, ”Woooooooooaahh, scary!” I know which one I’m plumping for!

Thanks again for all the messages of good luck ahead of next month – I really appreciate them. And good luck to you too if you’re also taking part, or if you’re going to be cheering somebody on, or if you’ve been helping with some fundraising.

I’ll see you on that start-line. Minus a wheel-barrow!

Big love

Gx
