Chasing Pavements (Part 6)

Thought I’d jot down a few words to update you on the Marathon training and, most importantly, to give you the latest on `Thumper’. (If you’re new to my blog, this is the fresh name I have given to my dodgy right calf after my sports massage / physio man described it in our last session as “not a happy bunny”.)

Well, the good news is that Thumper is showing some signs of improvement. Handy, as the Marathon is now not much more than six weeks away. My new `bunny-named’ calf is still feeling pretty sore but doesn’t seem to be slowing me down toooo much. And the next big test for Thumper & me is this weekend’s Reading Half Marathon. I took part in this one last year as well, so this should give me an idea of how far I’ve improved (or not!) over the last twelve months.

One thing I must say about Sports Massage Man is that he’s got me using the Power-Plate to help with the stretching. You basically get on the plate, press a few buttons & then stand still while it sends out sixty seconds of high-intensity vibrations. Feels a bit weird, but it seems to work. And the best thing is that it cuts down soooo much on that post-workout stretch. And anyone who’s used a gym will know that stretching is:

THE.MOST.BORING.THING.IN.THE.WORLD!!

So, here’s to the Power Plate, my new best gym-friend. You should give it a go!

Big love
Gx
