Tell Us Your Earthquake Experiences
Woah, what a morning! Being the early guy on Heart, I was getting the first reactions to last night’s earthquake on the show today. Thankfully, as I write this, nobody seems to have been hurt and there only seems to have been some minor damage reported to properties. Phew!
So, did the earth move for you?! Well, the best bit about this morning was the opportunity to gauge exactly what people thought was going on. Let’s face it, we’re not used to this kind of earth tremor thing in London, unless you perhaps live next door to Rik Waller. So, here’s a flavour of what those of us who were up early this morning thought might have been happening...
Mel: I thought I was going mad, house started to shake & my framed picture of Laurence Llewellyn –Bowen toppled backwards so at least it was still face up (I love the attention to detail on this one!)
Lorna: I was working in a glass tower in the City when the blinds started rustling & the room began to sway. It was so scary!
Nicole from Islington: I was woken up by my bed & door shaking. Thought it was a ghost, so I hid under the covers (always works in Scooby Doo!)
Chris in Shepherd’s Bush: I thought my boiler was going to explode.
Tom from Golders Green: Felt a big rumbly sensation followed by a strange tinkly noise, so sent my wife Sue downstairs to investigate (brave fella is our Tom!)
Clare: I shook my husband to stop him snoring in case there was another tremor so I’d have a bit more time to get out of the house in case it collapsed. (Must have been some pretty impressive snoring on the part of her hubby if it could drown out an earthquake!)
Karen: I felt the earth move, but it had nothing to do with an earthquake – wahey!
And then there was Mike who lives near Heathrow: I didn’t hear it at all & slept through the whole thing (proof, as if we needed it, that nothing, absolutely nothing, gets in the way of a man’s sleep!!)
Thanks so much for the texts & emails whizzing into the show today. Always appreciate them. Here’s to a less bumpy Wednesday!
Gxx
