Chasing Pavements - Part 5

Had one of those wake-up call moments this week... seven weeks now until the London Marathon. And by my (admittedly rubbish) maths, seven weeks means less than 50 days. Wooaarrrr!!!

What’s more scary is that Mr. Injury has once again been knocking on my door. Nothing as impressive & sexy sounding as the Beckham 'stressed metatarsal’ that nearly knocked me out last year. This year, it’s a calf strain. According to my sports massage man, my right calf “isn’t a happy bunny”. Not sure that’s the proper term they use in sporty massage school, but it certainly gets the message across. And let me tell you, my “unhappy bunny” of a calf is something of an understatement. When I run, it feels like the leg is literally about to splinter into a million little leggy pieces. Nice!

So, as of today, any progress with the training rests in the expert hands of “massage man” and his less than technical description of my calf. And in honour of this rabbit analogy, I shall now be calling my right calf Thumper.

Off to meet the lovely Adidas people later on to get kitted out for the big day. Maybe they could find me a new leg as well!

More soon, including a `Thumper update!’

Big love

Gx
