Gotta tell you, I’ve been loving these crisp sunny mornings we’re getting right now. Most of my longer training runs now take in parts of the Thames path around Maidenhead & Cookham. It’s such a beautiful stretch of water. And to find yourself on your own, chugging along eating up the miles, while watching the early morning mist rise gently above the water, well it’s almost therapeutic.
So, nine weeks to go & apart from the expected aches & pains from running a silly number of miles I’m feeling relatively injury-free. Certainly better than I was at this point last year. Touch wood. Details of my official race number arrived this week. I’m number 39630. This is about 5000 lower than last year’s number. Just hope they’re not expecting me to finish 5000 places higher than I did in 2007. Mind you, if I did then that should at least see off the competition from Big Brother’s Kinga! Probably not enough to beat Gordon Ramsay, though – he’s a bit tasty when it comes to this Marathon thing.
Rest day today, then tomorrow Adidas want to meet up to kit me out with some new running gear for the big day – cool! I’ll let you know if this involves me in sensible shiny fresh running vests/shorts/shoes or if they’re planning to slip me into some kind of new `go-faster’ Adidas rhino costume!
Thanks for keeping up with the blog, by the way. If you’d like to know more about the Stillborn Baby Charity, SANDS, which I’m running for, here’s a link:
