Chasing Pavements (Part 18!)

“So do you think you’ll win?”

Bless her, I love my Mum. You’ve got admire the optimism. If only she’d see me run.

Granted, I’d love to finish the Marathon in a quicker time than last year, but somehow I can’t quite imagine I’ll be troubling the podium this Sunday. I did however receive official notification a while ago from a chief race organiser telling me that the Marathon had been brought forward this year by a couple of weeks to fit in with training schedules for the Beijing Olympics. So there’s somebody else who hasn’t seen me run yet! I’ll just be happy to get round safely, raise a bit of money for the Stillborn Baby Charity SANDS and, ideally, stay ahead of the 2-legged tin of baked beans that flew past me at the 21 mile mark last year. It hurt. It still hurts!

Loving the “tapering off” part of the training this week. With some crafty channel-surfing I managed to squeeze in Midsomer Murders & Deal Or No Deal yesterday while chilling on the sofa. And there’s a Pie In The Sky re-run on ITV3 this afternoon that I’ve got my eye on. All in the name of training.

But before my sofa-session today I’m also planning to make it as far as the gym for a very gentle work out. 10 minutes on the cross-trainer, 5 minutes on the exercise bike, 2 minutes being jiggled around on the power-plate & then an hour on the net while downing skinny cappuccinos should just about do it. “Surf & slurp” as I like to call it. I’m on the look for a way to break a record while doing the run this weekend. I’ve been inspired by some of the brilliant records that were smashed last year at the Mararthon – tell you more tomorrow!

For now, feel like it’s about time for a bit of quality loafing….

Big love

Gxx
