Chasing Pavements (Part 17!)

banana man 200x250 It’s not often I get to quote poodle-haired 80’s Swedish rockers Europe, but today I feel the need. It IS “The Final Countdown.” Yes, 7 days and ticking ‘til next weekend’s London Marathon……wooarghhh!

Survived a Saturday of heart palpitations watching Portsmouth’s FA Cup semi at Wembley. And then celebrated their success with nothing more than a glass of mineral water – another reason to look forward to next Sunday night…I can have a cheeky drink, at last!

Plenty of signs in town this weekend that the Marathon is drawing near. It’s not every day that you walk down the Euston Road and see a man jogging towards you dressed as a giant banana. What’s even better, nobody batted an eyelid. That’s SO London! Like it’s the most regular thing you see.

A warm welcome also to the 6 Massai Warriors who have arrived in London ahead of the Marathon. Apparently this is the first time they have ever left their village. They’re staying with a lady called Clare in Kent who says they are fantastic, very polite & loving her cups of tea - white & 10 sugars, according to Clare. I just can’t help thinking that in reality they’re not actually Massai Warriors, but in fact Massai BUILDERS. Good luck to them next weekend, too!

And all the best if you’re also now limbering up/down for the Marathon. Can’t believe it’s come round so quickly again.

I’ll blog some more tomorrow as the build-up continues.

Big love

Gxx
