This is the latest form of freestyle graffiti, coffee artists! There is a World champion, he's called Soren Stiller and what he creates on a cup of coffee is pretty amazing. There are four World championship competitions for baristas and they take it very seriously.
The two main skills needed are "free pouring" where you make patterns by pouring straight from the jug and "etching" where you sketch with chocolate on top of the coffee. Beware if you fancy giving it a go because you get a lot of milk all over your shoes in the beginning.
Here's how you make a heart, good luck!
1. Pour your milk high at a 45 degree angle into one spot near the edge of the cup.
2. Lower jug to cup and tilt jug to 90 degrees. Wiggle jug left to right to shunt foam on to coffee surface.
3. Keep pouring; the foam will grow to a circle.
4. To finish, quickly move your wrist forward, over cup, flicking the milk in a thin line to create the heart-shaped foam.
Sounds easy doesn't it?! I will give it a go tonight and if it works out will take a photo and post it on my blog.
See you tomorrow at 1......
