Just spent 2 hours at the hospital waiting for this that and the other. It was the usual routine, turn up for appointment and finally see someone 45 mins later! I took my little 4 year old girl with me today (and forgot to bring anything to keep her entertained), so she could join in the excitement.
The doctor was great with her and let her play with the machine that finds the baby’s heartbeat on my tummy. She nearly jumped out of her skin when she found it beating! I’m glad to say, loudly and well. The scan I had, produced a different reaction. When she the baby on the screen she exclaimed ‘yes, I told you Mummy, it’s a puppy dog”……… hmmm how am I going to explain that one?
They had to do a special scan to measure blood flow to the placenta. It’s because I got pre-eclampsia last time and I’m the other side of 35 (medically old!). Apparently they can tell if I’m likely to get it again by doing that. Thankfully everything looked good.
It was also a really good chance to mention to the doc that I am soooooooo bunged up this time. Prunes, apricots, smoothies, gallons of water are not making any difference. So they gave me a prescription to go and pick up at the hospital pharmacy. Another 45min queue and by this time I’m an example of brilliant parenting (NOT) and am bribing my 4 year old with crisps. Well none of us are perfect we’ll do apples and milk at home later!
Big baby bumps.
