I'm Dreaming of a White Easter

Easter is here. Hold on (I’ve just read that back) I still can’t believe it Easter? Now? That all feels slightly weird. I’ll come back to that…

If you’re looking for things to do, you’ll almost certainly know from listening to Heart and looking outside your window right now that it’s a bit wet. So staying in or doing something under a roof (even the egg hunt) maybe a good plan. If you go to the cinema there’s plenty on for the kids. “Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who” and “The Spiderwick Chronicles” are just two you can expect right now. For a full list of what’s on check the showbiz section of our website.

I went to the cinema today to see Vantage Point - an assassination style action drama starring Matthew Fox and Dennis Quaid. I’m a fan of 24 and there were elements of that in this but on the whole I didn’t think much of the film. It’s been number one in the UK box office chart and it has some great sequences and an interesting plot – seeing a 20 minute assassination attempt from five or six different perspectives. The trouble with the film is that I ended up wanting the enemy to succeed and had no sympathy for the ‘good guys’ like the American President. Furthermore it got all a bit ridiculous when characters survived car crashes and a major character just so happens to have an identical double! That’s not really giving anything away by the way and I know Hollywood action films aren’t supposed to be ‘realistic’ but there are scenes in this you’d expect from a Bourne film or a Die Hard not this.

Wow, that reads like one hell of a rant. Mind you it’s good when you see a film and it stirs you into writing something – so there we go.

Back to this weekend then – Easter is here and we can eat hot cross buns and loads of chocolate without getting fat (just pretend, it makes it taste better). Is it just me or is Easter getting earlier every year? Before you know it it’ll be the same day as Christmas and religiously speaking that would be VERY strange. Why isn’t Easter on one fixed day? You don’t have to answer that (unless you’re a priest in which case please do get in touch!).

One final thought, are we about to have our first ever White Easter?? Maybe Bing Crosby should go back into the studio. Hold on that’s a bit wrong…

Have a great weekend. Please do join me for Club Classics on Good Friday evening and a double helping of Absolutely 80s on Sunday and Monday night from 7!
