I was going through my wardrobe the other day and discovered I have six pairs of jeans. You may think that this is either average, below average or above average depending on your sex and economic resources. What if I told you that out of those six pairs the amount the actually fitted me was zero?! You’d probably either think that I had an individual that went out for me and bought a new pair every month based on what they thought I’d like or I was utterly useless at buying jeans. Put it this way, I don’t have a personal shopper.
I think I may be one of the worst shoppers in the world. My usual experience on the high street goes something like this: Trying on jeans in the shop; buying the ones that fit; take them home; trying them on again at home… so far this may be fairly similar to you, however then when I’m satisfied I’ve made the right choice I get to the point of no return and cut the labels off. It is only now that when I try them on again I realise that they don’t actually fit. Too tight, too slack, not long enough - one of the above. Why I never pick up on this in the shop is something I simply can’t explain. The thing is I don’t learn my lesson either so the same routine happens every time. Hence I have six pairs of jeans, none of which actually fit.
This, as you may expect, annoys me. So for every £40 - £50 I waste on useless clothes I try and save a bit of cash in other ways. So I’ve got myself together some rather useful ways of saving money. Apart from the obvious ones of drinking tap water rather than bottled or when at the pub getting your mate to buy the next round instead of you (!) there are a couple of great online tricks you can use.
Firstly go to Google and type in “voucher codes”. Up come a load of sites that give you free discount codes that you can type in at the ‘check-out’ time when shopping online. Most of these are 10-15% off or free deliveries that most of the shops are openly offering anyway but if you search carefully you can find some great offers. Also, if you intend to take the family or just a mate to a theme park like Thorpe Park, Alton Towers or Legoland always get your tickets online. As long as you know about 4 days in advance of when you are going you can get yourself up to 50% off on sites like lastminute.com
For some other great tips have a look at our guide on this website here. Unfortunately it doesn’t list any pointers on how to buy jeans that fit! So if you’ve got any advice yourself feel free to get in touch.
See you tonight at 7pm
