Matthew Smith's Blog

Hello, my name is Matthew and I'm the new boy at Heart! You can hear me weekday mornings from 9am and every Sunday from 10am as part of Chilled Sunday. I've only been here for just over 4 weeks, but so far I'm loving every minute! And what's not to love? The people are nice, the tea is free and the music is great!

So, what can I tell you about myself? The one thing people notice when they first meet me is my unplaceable accent! This is the result of spending 10 years growing up in the South African sunshine before returning to (not so sunny) Scotland to finish high school. Since then I've worked for radio stations in Edinburgh, Glasgow and, most recently, Hull. When I'm not busy unpacking boxes, I enjoy socialising with friends, eating out, music, cinema and crashing out infront of the TV! I've tried to keep fit and active but unfortunately my sofa won't let me!

I'm sure you'll get to know more about me over the next few months, but in the meantime I'd love to hear from you if you can recommend any places to go/things to do here in the East Midlands!
