I'm SO Lost
Happy February! As "Heartbreakers" celebrates it's one month birthday (don't worry, I won't mention that on the 1st of every month), I'm in for an exciting weekend.
Firstly, it's Mrs Beale's birthday on Saturday, and we're celebrating by going out to a restaurant recommended by Gary Rhodes. Ooooooohhh! Now, before you think me and Gary are best pals, it's worth making clear that I've never met him in my life and we just saw him talk about this place in the BBC Good Food magazine. Hmmm, not so showbiz. But in my mind, if it's good enough for the spiky-haired chef, then it's good enough for me! (Thank goodness he had nothing to do with the prices on the menu - they're fairly modest. Phew). I'll tell you about it next week.
Then on Sunday, we're meeting up with friends for lunch and in the evening, not only can I kick back with another 3 hour session of "Heartbreakers", but the BEST TV SHOW IN THE WORLD returns .... LOST.
The first episode of the new series was shown in the US last night, so we're not far behind. Now, if your interest in the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 is anything like mine, you loved Series 1, got a bit bored in Series 2 so whimpered out for a while but enjoyed the last few episodes and then completely fell in love with Series 3. When we last saw Jack, Kate, Sawyer and friends, they managed to make radio contact with the outside world so they could be rescued from the desert island where they've spent the last 70 days. But if only it were that straight forward. No, this is "Lost" so the heroes are probably villains, the villains are sometimes the honest ones and I'm sure whoever turns up to rescue them will actually have a hidden agenda too.
At the end of Series 3, there was a prophetical scene of Jack and Kate at an airport with Jack telling her "we have to go back". I wonder if they get rescued but can't bear to leave others behind ... or have they gone to another world after being on the island and the only way they can get back to the real world is via the island again? Trust me, this is a mild plot idea compared to what get's suggested on the net like "are they all in Purgatory?" or "is the whole thing someone's weird dream?". Everyone's got a theory!
This will be the start of Series 4 (Sunday, 9pm, Sky One) which has been badly hit by the writers strike in the US, but if all goes to plan, we've still got 2 years to work it all out before the grand finale in 2010. Every episode is beautifully made - they're like mini-movies. There'll be twists, turns, weird plot-lines and SO many unanswered questions.... love it!
Have a good weekend!
